What is a "Time based" rattle and how to create it?

"Time-based" rattle lets your team get reminders before/after a particular date field to ensure that you never miss a critical date.

A few examples of what you can do with "Time-based" rattle

  • Renewal in 60 days

  • Close date overdue

  • Account has no activity for the past 30 days

  • The upcoming task is in 45 days

Configuring "Time-based" rattle

  1. Go to "Workflows", and click the button "Create Workflow". Mention the "Workflow Name" to get started.

  2. Select the object on which you want to create an alert. Rattle supports both standard and custom objects.

  3. After selecting the "Time-based" type of workflow, you create a condition on the date field associated with this object. This is a required filter for creating such workflows. Post this you can add as many other conditions as you want.

  4. Customize the Slack message by including any fields, emojis, GIF, etc.

    Note that you can hit "Send Sample Message" to view how your configured message would look like in Slack.

  5. Add an action button to let recipients push changes in Salesforce from Slack. Read more about action buttons here.

  6. The last step is to add the recipient. You can select any Slack channel, or send a DM and group DM to anyone in your organization.


    Note that, you can dynamically route the alerts to object owners, their managers, etc.

  7. Hit the "save" button to save your rattle.
