The Outreach integration allows users to add records to sequences directly from a Rattle alert in MS Teams or Slack.

Currently, you can leverage Outreach for Enablement and General workflows on Rattle.

Enrolling records to Outreach sequences

Rattle adds Message buttons to your alert to help you manage Salesforce/Outreach directly from Slack. Once you've completed the Outreach Integration, you will notice new message button options related to Outreach.

There are two types of buttons you can use with your Outreach integration:

  • Sync with Outreach

  • Link

Jump to the Message button section of this article to learn how to use them.

Types of Objects

When you are configuring the button, you will need to indicate if the object is the Principal Object or a Reference Object.

  • Principal Object: Refers to the object that triggered the workflow.

    • Use-case: The workflow is triggered when a new lead record is created, and you want the recipient to be able to enroll the Lead in an Outreach sequence.

  • Reference Object: To include a related record, choose the "reference object" option. Just make sure you have a lookup field for the object/record you want to include.

    • Use-case: If your workflow is activated by a potential sales opportunity (intent object) and you wish to include the associated lead in a marketing drip campaign, choose the "reference object" option. This way, you can seamlessly enroll that lead in an Outreach sequence to enhance your sales and marketing efforts.

Example use-cases

  • Speed to Lead: Use the Outreach integration to improve your team's ability to act quickly on prospects. Notify them when a new prospect comes in and allow them to qualify and sequence the lead directly from the alert.

  • Intent Signals: If you are capturing intent signals, add the ability for alert recipients to immediately take action and add the contact to a drip campaign to nurture that interest!

Setting up a workflow

In this example, we'll establish a workflow to trigger an alert whenever a new lead is added to Salesforce. The workflow will not only update the lead in the corresponding Outreach sequence but also provide a link for quick access to the new lead's details.

1. Create a new workflow

Navigate to Workflows > General on the main menu on the right of the Rattle web app, and click Create workflow.
(Choose Salesforce as your CRM source if multiple integrations are present.)

2. Select the object

Give your workflow a name that reflects its intended purpose or function, and select Lead as the principal object.

Now since we just want to be notified of when a new lead has been added, let's select the Create/Update type of alert.

3. Message conditions

Toggle on 'Send message only when the record is created' if you want notifications solely for only new lead creations, and not updates as well.

4. Message content

Configure the alert users will receive. Toggle on the 'Send a message when conditions are met' button, and add opening text for context.

5. Message fields

Select Message fields for extra details. Choose from fields in the Principal object and all related objects.

In this example, we've picked the Full name, Email, Website, and Lead source, from the Lead object, and the Owner's name from the Owner object.

6. Convey sentiment with GIFs

Add an emotional tone to your alert by selecting GIFs. Choose a type, and Rattle will display a rotation of GIFs with each sent alert.

7. Message buttons

This is where Rattle does its thing. Once you receive the alert for a new lead on your Slack, you can add Message buttons to swiftly operationalize the information received from the alert.

Here's how:

  • Select the button, name it according to the function it carries out, and select the object.

  • Here we've opted to update the Principal object - Lead

In the example below, we've added:

    1. Sync with Outreach - To update the sequence with the new Lead details. Syncing requires a mandatory email; the button won't appear if the record is missing an email.

    2. Link - To view the sequence on Outreach

    3. Update object - To edit and update new Lead details on Salesforce.

The Update object button allows you to designate fields as mandatory or include pre-filled values in your alerts. Click on the Gear icon to configure these settings.

8. Message delivery

Choose exactly to whom and how the summary will be delivered on Slack:

  • DM or Channels - Sends the Rattle alert to the individual, or to a channel

  • Group DM - Creates a Slack group of the selected people, and sends the Alert to the group

  • Deal rooms - Select deal rooms to send the alert to a Deal room channel on Slack.

In the example below, we've opted to dispatch the alert to the account owner and a dedicated Slack channel designed for lead monitoring.

That's it! You're all set to create workflows with your Outreach integration.
